Taking on London

Hello world!
I am very super excited! Why you may ask? Because for the first time in my life I am going on a super awesome vacation! I grew up living in Canada and with four younger siblings, travelling was not realistic for my family. So at the age of twenty I decided to pack my bags and plan a trip with none other than my long time best friend Olivia! (you can check out her sweet blog here!) We are headed to the wonderful city of London, England.
During our trip we have many things and ideas of what we should do. So far we have ideas like drinking tea, the London Eye, Harry Potter tour (which I am sooo excited for), seeing a show, the wax museum, double decker buses. Many of these are things that the typical London tourist would want to do, but I was wondering if any of you have been there or even live there and know of any unknown gems, little places or things to do on our trip that wouldn't show up when you search "things to do in London, England." Do any of you have any cool ideas that would be something a little different to try, maybe a great restaurant or anything that you love? If so I would love to know, leave me a little comment!

My scarf!

Hello everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while I've been really busy. And by really busy I mean watching The IT Crowd on netflix.
So as I said last week, I had set a few goals for myself. Well, what do you know I stuck to them! And here is the scarf I made! Woohoo! Thank goodness to YouTube tutorials!

So because I wanted to make a different version of an infinity scarf I made my own pattern! Well not really a pattern because it was in my head! So if any of you are interested here is how I made it!
Firstly, I cast on, then I knit one row, pearled the next and so on. I had 35 stitches in each row and I just cast off at my desired length and sewed three large buttons on using the thick cross stitching craft thread to connect the ends together!

And voila! How to make a kind of unique scarf!

A Day in the Life

Hello everyone!
Today I decided to share a day in the life of me with you all through pictures!
I took a picture each hour all day of something I did or somewhere I was.

Welcome to a day in my life.
7:00 am
I had my breakfast with some Blueberry White Tea from good ole Tim Hortons!

8:00 am It was really cold during our outdoor morning safety meeting so I made my dad take me to get hot chocolate to warm me up! *Please note my patriotism and Canadianism drinking so much from Tim Horton's!

9:00 am My father and I drove the truck up a steep hill into a whole bunch of bushes to be used a camouflage so we could scare one of the crews he is in charge of. This was our hiding spot. Also in case you were wondering the plan didn't work so well, seeing as we had to back up to the trail and he forgot we have a reverse alarm that beeps loudly.

10:00 am
I got hungry and ate this smilie cookie (yet again form timmy's)

11:00 am
I had to do some land surveying. Werkin real hard. Carrying around GPS. I have rather nice PPE.

12:00 pm
I caught a cool garter snake that was chilling on the road. Didn't even get bit this time!

1:00 pm
We walked four kilometers to use our GPS but it didn't work, so we had to walk the never-ending walk back to the truck. And by never-ending, I actually mean four kilometers that we had just walked so it felt never-ending.

2:00 pm
This is my sandwich, I was really hungry after walking a whole bunch.

3:00 pm
This is where we sat in a parked truck while my dad had businessy phone calls and I had a nap.

4:00 pm
Finally on my way home from work!

5:00 pm
I had to unload the equipment out of the truck. We have lots of cool stuff in there.

This song has basically been on repeat all night and will count from 6-9 pm.

Well that is an exciting life in the day of Kim! Also, a word of advice for anyone picking up wild snakes; make sure to grab them as close to the head as possible or they WILL turn their head around and bite you. trust me.
I hope you're all having good weekends, sadly I work 24 days straight and don't get them off much! What did you guys do to celebrate the last Septober weekend? Comment below and let me know!

Pumpkin French Toast Recipe

I decided to celebrate Septober and Fall I would share a few of my favorite fall recipes with you!

This is probably one of my absolute FAVORITE breakfast foods of all time!

Pumpkin. French. Toast.

What you will need:
5 1/2- 7 1/2 cups one inch bread cubes
7 large eggs
2 cups of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice
1/4 cup pumpkin butter OR 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
3-4 tbs brown sugar (for topping)
nuts: pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions:
1. Cut bread slices into 1 inch cubes (I used dried bread cubes from a grocery store bakery). Use enough to fill a 9x13 greased baking dish.
2. In a large bowl whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, pumpkin butter (or puree), and pumpkin spice until well mixed. Pour over bread and push down with a spoon or hands until it is all soaked or mostly covered. Cover with lid or saran wrap, refrigerate overnight.
3. In the morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Uncover and top with brown sugar, additional pumpkin spice and nuts if desired. Bake 35-45 minutes until golden brown or until not longer wet.
4. Serve right away with maple syrup, honey or agave.

Enjoy!

"Do those come with lights that flash while she walks?"

Today I had yet another deep thought about life. It all generated from my trip to the store to buy new steel toed rubber boots for work. Earlier in the week I had gone to buy new boots and had to order in a pair for my teeny tiny feet because I go through boots like no body's business. Well, while going in to pick up my size four, mens boots I was ripped on the whole time by my father asking the sales associate if they came with lights that flash with each step you take because they are in fact small and look like a boot of a child. It really got me thinking about becoming an adult. Technically speaking, yes, I am am adult because I am twenty and mature age here in New Brunswick, Canada is nineteen. However I am not one's first thought when 'adult' comes to mind. At a mere 5'2 while standing as straight as I can, not only do I not feel like an adult but I don't look like one either. In fact I have been asked my age and called "little girl" by three separate people this week alone. One of which thought I was possibly under the age of twelve, despite my multiple tattoos being completely visible. It got me thinking about when one becomes 'an adult'. Is it when we no longer like sugary cereals with cartoon characters on the box? Is it when we realize going out on a Wednesday is not a good idea? Is it when Disney movies are a highlight of our past? Is it when we smile for pictures and don't take macho flexing or duckface poses? I think in a way we are all just kids acting the way society expects us to behave.

Never stop dreaming.

Stop feeling lame and be awesome

Every once in a while I find myself in a rut. It's hard to stay positive when things are on a bad streak for you. I recently decided that I would avoid negative ruts by small changes in my life; eat healthy, exercise you know the usual but I also decided to give myself goals. Not huge goals like find a cure for cancer, become the prime minister, or create world peace. Very much the opposite. I decided to set small, achievable goals for myself. When you set a small goal for yourself it's in the foreseeable future and when you reach it you feel accomplished and therefore positive!
So that being said here are a few goals I have set for myself:
Finish reading "The Book Thief"
Knit myself an awesome scarf!
Shoot lots of deer on my new-to-me cabellas hunting game for ps3!

Also, yoga. Yoga is great for your muscles, balance, posture and flexibility plus it is a great way to start or end your day!

So hopefully next time you're feeling yourself get into a negative nancy or a Debbie downer mood you can try my tips to stop being feeling lame and be awesome instead!

Aaaaand here is my first attempt at making a soft and heavenly warm blanket for my neck. Aka scarf.

Love my Dad

As many of you or maybe some of you (if anyone decides to read this anyways) know, working out of town has it's ups and downs. Ups meaning more money more bitches. Downs meaning you have a boring life and no friends and must resort to writing a blog for excitement. Well let me tell you about my working out of town experiences thus far. First of all I work in the woods a lot of the time near French communities. My first week, I swear every time I was left alone I would turn around to find a moose. Lucky me. However I have learned some useful life skills. I can pee in the woods so good! That takes serious skill being a girl and all. I can now tell directions without saying "Never Eat Soggy Worms" in my head. Work boots are heavy, they build some sick muscles. Dem legs. And I learned so many bad words in French! What more could someone ask for? However living three hours from all my friends and everyone I know has it's downsides. What could be bad about never seeing anyone you know and love you may ask? Well let me tell you. Chances are if you don't have a significant other prior to leaving for work you will not get one whilst working away. Which will lead to your father believing that you are in fact a lesbian because you don't have a boyfriend. I mean I'm glad he's supportive and accepting and all, but I am actually not a lesbian so that kind of sucks.
Working with my father. Not sure if it is the greatest thing or far from that. You never know what he is going to do next. Last week I was asked if I 'believe in Beliebers'. And had to also explain why it is "FirstWorldProblems" not "ThirdWorldProblems" "No Dad, wanting the new iPhone but already having an iPhone 5 is not a third world problem, not eating for a week would be a third world problem." And sometimes he decides to sing. Which really wouldn't be so bad if he could sing. Or knew the words. And if he didn't replace every word with "la".

Story of my life

You may be a stereotypical white girl if:

You drink tea in a bubble bath
You can't eat or drink anything without instagramming that shit
You use the word instagram as a verb
You use hashtags in text messages
You end your texts with five plus emoticons that have nothing to do with anything except they are cute
You use the term "Ouu SCANDALOUS"
You get stressed out trying to pick a tea because there are so many flavors #firstworldproblems

Also can I just say I have done all of the above today.

The best revenge is happiness

Just kidding.
If you think the best form of revenge is happiness do I have some ideas for you.
Your ex cheated on you? Your "friend" left you at the bar to go home with your ex?
Here are some great ideas (which are far better than being happy)

1. Veet in the conditioner. your "friend" wont be getting any guys when she's balding.
2. Itching powder on their toilet paper.
3. Hide Legos throughout their house on the floor. That can make Chuck Norris cry.
4. Move all their furniture a foot to the left or right, they'll be stubbing their toes for days!
5. Toothpaste in oreos.
6. Find bed bugs, put them in an envelope which you mail to their house.
7. Steal their parking spot.
8. Scratch all of their movies and games.
9. Unplug their fridge.
10. Turn off their alarm clock. Have fun being on time for work, SUCKERS.
11. Change all the names in their phone's contact list. They'll be so confused when their mom is sexting them!
12. Bedazzle all of their favorite clothing. Trust me, they'll love it.
13. Put pictures of Nicholas Cage throughout their house, car, etc. SURPRISE

There are so many ways to get revenge. You're welcome.

Welcome to my life.

Why am I here? To grace the world with my awesome life experiences, fantastic ideas and my humor.
I have been told many-a-time that I should write a book of my life and all of it's excitement. Seriously, for a boring life, a lot happens to me.
For example, last weekend I had gone across the country for a wedding. First, the night before the trip, I dropped my new iPhone and smashed the screen. So I had to take my brother's phone with me. It was no surprise I was randomly selected in airport security. After going in the full body scanner which said I had something by my ribs I as then patted down; only to come to the conclusion that 'my sweater was bunched up funny' to which I replied "Or my abs of steel set off the scanners." After finally getting through security, my flight was late, making me miss my connecting flight. Woo for aircanada! Skip forward a day and it is the wedding day. After losing fifteen pounds to fit in this dress because I found a new love for poutine the month before, I thought this wedding would go smoothly. No. No. No. No. I swear I am the only one who can manage to rip my dress and pour alcohol all over myself before even getting to the wedding. Bridesmaid of the year right here! After the wedding I went out with two of the guys from the wedding, spilled more alcohol on myself and got them into a bar fight. It was an exciting weekend.
